05.08.07 | New Orleans mourns the loss of veteran clarinetist Alvin Batiste
I had the honor and privilege of studying under Mr. Bat for 4 years while attending Southern University (97-01). He took me to Paris to be an ambassador of jazz and to teach at the University of Paris, he also took me to countless other places to play jazz. He was truly an educator like none I've ever studied under, he truly cared for his students and was an unbelievable musician. Mr. Bat will truly be missed, I'm very fortunate I had the opportunity to learn from him.
